Today's Connections Hints & Answers For February 12, 2025 (Puzzle #612)

If you are looking to take receipts on today’s Connections puzzle, you might need a few hints to get you to the end of it without losing your streak. There are some tough categories near the end of this puzzle, and you will want to keep your eye on the details in order to not get tripped up. There are many reasons why this puzzle might feel more challenging, and players should be ready to do some digging around in their brain to get the right connections to the right words.
If you are looking for a fun puzzle that has some of the same challenges but with a different format, the NYT’s Strands puzzle has a great payoff. The cultural references and the challenge to connect the dots remain, but the difference is that you are searching for the words themselves as opposed to trying to group them together. You can find other words in the puzzle to get hints as to what the theme is and where the words are that you actually need to find.
Today's Connections Category Hints
FEBRUARY 12 #612

This one was a little tough for me, but it was understandable when I saw the final two categories. There were some references that I was aware of, but that don't tend to be at the forefront of my mind and would not necessarily come up just by looking at disconnected words. If you need some help, there are a lot of hints that you can take from us to get the references that I struggled to.
- One category is about things that can prove what someone has
- One category is about four things that can all take place in the same setting
- One category is about things that can all be seen in the context of the same show
- One category is about four words that can be dissected and recombined into a new phrase

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

CERTIFICATE |
DEED |
RECEIPT |
TITLE |
These are all things that often prove what someone owns, and some of them seem a little more important than others. There are not many other words that could go in this category, and it is a simple shared-meaning one. That usually allows you to solve it quite fast, and that was the case for this one for me today. However, it would not be an ongoing theme in the rest of the puzzle. Upon first glance, this puzzle felt like it had a bunch of disconnected words, but things started off well.
Green Answers: Revealed & Explained

DANCE |
MONOLOGUE |
SKETCH |
SONG |
This was another positive part of this puzzle and was actually the first one I got. I was pleasantly surprised by it, and pleased with myself that I was able to get this one fairly quickly. I saw DANCE and SONG and figured they might go together, and it was quickly followed by MONOLOGUE. Finding SKETCH was the hardest part of this one, but I was able to do so and put them all together. Maybe it's the inundation of theater-related terms given the popularity of Wicked, but something triggered my memory.

DONUT |
PACIFIER |
SAXOPHONE |
SKATEBOARD |
This is where my streak of luck started to go away. While I have watched a fair few Simpsons episodes with my dad over the course of the last few decades, I don’t think I associate any of these items exclusively to be able to piece them together like that. Particularly not when ROLLERBLADE also exists, and SKATEBOARD feels like it should go with that. I can see how the category works now, but it was much harder to see at the time.
Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

ANDROID |
RATTLESNAKE |
ROLLERBLADE |
SHAKESPEARE |
This one felt so hard, particularly with the inclusion of ANDROID. I was putting together a category based on the first or second half of the words that included all of these options beyond that, but ANDROID was not one that I would have put in the mix. There were too many other options and this is not a phrase that would come to mind when looking at pieces of words that have no connection to that phrase. It was a bit too much for my brain today, but at least I know where I went wrong now.
