Pokemon TCG Pocket Infernape and Moltres ex cards

Infernape ex has emerged as a surprise power hitter in Pokémon TCG Pocket, arriving with the Space-Time Smackdown expansion. The only one of the new starter Pokémon evolution lines to have an ex card, it has proven its mettle.

Fire-type decks have had a place in the meta since the game launched; Charizard ex has been a top deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket alongside Arcanine ex and Blaine. However, Infernape ex offers something different and can challenge many of the dominant decks.

Infernape Ex Deck Cards List

A Deck Built For Speed

Infernape is a stage 2 evolution, but it doesn't take long to set up and has the potential to deal huge damage on just turn 3. Its only attack, Fire Blitz, does a huge 140 damage for just two fire energy. While all energy is discarded following the attack, it can potentially wipe out teams very quickly. Its earlier stages also can cause a decent amount of damage themselves (e.g. Monferno's Fiery Punch deals 30 damage for one energy). All told, it's one of the best EX cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket from Space-Time Smackdown.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's New Update Is Great News For Frustrated Fans - & The Game's Future

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket's latest event shows that its developers are listening to fans, especially when it comes to fixing the trade system.

Due to requiring six cards for the three evolution stages, only one further type of Pokémon is included in the deck: Moltres ex. As in the Charizard ex deck, Moltres ex is the key energy provider, but with the help of a supporter card, it can also become a key secondary attacker. Its only attack that deals damage is Heat Blast, but with 70 damage, it can take out most opponents in two hits.

Supporter cards remain key to earning more victories with this deck; PokeBall, Professor's Research, and Pokémon Communication all help get the set-up you want at the start of the battle. Giovanni is important for this deck, as it deals an additional 10 damage with attacks which can assist Infernape against some of the other ex Pokémon.

Giant Cape is the best of the Pokémon Tool Cards in Space-Time Smackdown. It increases the health of whichever Pokémon it is attached to by 20HP.

However, out of all the support options, Dawn is the game changing card, allowing you to move one energy from any of your benched Pokémon to your active one. Given Infernape only requires two energy to attack, this along with the energy you can add each turn can allow you to hit with back-to-back attacks.

Best Strategy To Win With An Infernape Ex Deck

Getting To The Final Stage As Quickly As Possible

The Infernape ex IR card from Pokémon TCG Pocket.

The Infernape ex card does not require a lot of energy to be able to use its battle-winning attack, so the key is getting it fully evolved and into your hand as soon as possible. All three stages can deal damage, so it is fine to use Chimchar in the active slot straight away. I have found success with the deck by going straight for the main evolution line and only using Moltres as a back-up if I can't get all three Chimchar stages out early.

Once you have Infernape evolved, you can start trying to KO your opponent straight away if the first two stages haven't been able to pick up any points. Its only weakness is that all Fire Energy are discarded after each use of Fire Blitz, meaning you can't stack its energy cards. However, if you have Dawn in your hand, you can use that to add two Energy back to it in one turn and then attack again. Dawn is one of the best supporter cards from the new Space-Time Smackdown expansion.

A lot of the other strong EX Pokémon TCG Pocket cards have 150 HP, so use Giovanni alongside Infernape's Fire Blitz to KO them in one go.

Moltres ex earns its spot because it is bulky and can take a lot of damage. Infernape EX has the very rare for an EX card 0 retreat cost. This means, at any point you can retreat, put another Pokémon in its place for one turn, and then bring it back into the active spot ready to attack once again. With Pokémon Communication and Poké Ball, you can have multiple goes in one turn to get the Pokémon cards out that you need to start working towards Infernape. Professor's Research also helps with consistency.

Infernape ex decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket are very basic, but don't require huge set-ups due to only needing two energy cards to attack. This gives it a great chance of victory over any decks thanks to its speed of attack. The biggest problem I have found is when you are stuck waiting to draw Monferno or Infernape, you can't put dents into the strongest opposing Pokémon. However, this is rare due to the supporter cards that can help draw more cards.
